Shirahama Area

Shirahama is one of Wakayama’s most famous resort destinations, known for its beautiful white sand beach, Shirarahama, and Shirahama Onsen, one of Japan’s three oldest hot springs. The coastline features dramatic natural landscapes such as Senjojiki and Sandanbeki, allowing visitors to enjoy both the ocean’s beauty and the relaxing hot springs.

During winter, the river is partially dammed to create the famous Senninburo (Sage’s Bath), a large open-air hot spring.

Shingu & Katsuura Area

Nearby, Nachi Falls, the tallest waterfall in Japan, stands as a sacred site alongside Kumano Nachi Taisha. Katsuura is known as one of Japan’s top tuna fishing ports, offering fresh seafood and lively local markets.
