Crossing mountain passes on prefectural borders, chasing breathtaking autumn foliage, enjoying delicious local food, and soaking in hot springs: this is cycling at its most luxurious!

Yesterday we finished an 11 day custom private cycling tour from Nasu to Yonezawa, exploring autumn leaves, onsen, and samurai culture.

Our guests were loyal repeat riders who previously joined our Tohoku Sakura Bike Tour two years ago. This time they came back for a longer and more challenging adventure.

We rode through rain a few times, but the wet red and yellow leaves only shone brighter in the light. They added even more joy to this cheerful and energetic group of friends.

All the women rode electric bikes, and together with the men on road bikes, they took on the tough climbs and descents of the mountain routes with big smiles.

And of course, there was food! Regional specialties, seasonal apples and persimmons, cakes and ice cream, and plenty of sake in the evenings. Every night ended with a relaxing onsen soak to recharge for the next day.

Along the way, we visited castles and shrines connected to shoguns and samurai to learn about Japanese history. On our rest day, we also tried traditional Japanese crafts.

On the final night, we celebrated late into the night at a local snack bar, then said goodbye with a promise to ride together again on the next tour.
