Experience a Japanese traditional fire festival called “Gojinkasai” in Nasu! In this fire festival cerebrating the gods in the volcanic mountains of Nasu, you can join a parade walking down to the sacred fire place with flaming torch in the costume and face painting of legendary white nine-tailed fox. And mysterious drumming sound blown up to the sky with sparks!
This “Gojinkasai” fire festival is annually held on the last Sunday of May every year.
May is one of the best season for cycling in Japan. And after cycling, we provide special local experiences like this!
We are a professional team of cycling guides and planners based in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture, dedicated to sharing the beauty of rural Japan (Satoyama) with the world. Under the theme of “Hidden Japan — the Japan that can only be reached by bicycle,” we go beyond simply introducing sightseeing routes. We provide in-depth, expert insights into regional history, traditional artisans and craft masters, and the local food culture.
